Accoya is warrantied for 50 years in exterior use and 25 years when used below ground or underwater; as durable as the highest quality tropical hardwoods.
“Accoya materials are perfect for Bermuda. Wood tends to rot quickly due to our climate, so Accoya can stand up to the elements better than cedar will on doors, windows, and shutters.” says BS&R Group General Manager Anthony Maderios.
BS&R has been able to utilize Accoya wood in a number of projects over the last few years. They especially see its benefits for traditional window and shutter design; and can point to Dockyard for a case study. After replacing over 100 windows with Accoya-made windows in the Great Western Storehouse (Building #9), they were asked to do the same for the Sail Loft (Building #7). As both are historic buildings, Accoya allows for a maintenance-free product without compromising the historical building aesthetic.
“Accoya is something all Wood-Workers have been waiting for. It allows us to do the work we love without having to answer the question of rot and sustainability. We can provide a great product for our customers which will last a lot longer, is maintenance-free and won’t corrode,” concludes Madeiros.
